 Brandon WeirBrandon started playing golf in 2007 at the age of 4 years old after watching his older brother, Ashley who plays off a scratch handicap, practicing in the garden. He completed the Gary Player Golf Experience Junior Program at the World of Golf in March 2007 and won the Gary Player Future Player Award on two occasions in 2007.

Bryan Roelofsz took over the coaching since then and he sees a future World Champion in Brandon. 

He started playing tournaments from June 2007 and has now won over 80 trophies in the SA Kids Golf, the Young Golfers and the Tomorrows Champions Tournaments. He now plays two to three tournaments a month.

 In January 2009, Brandon played in the World Qualifiers at Eagle Canyon and won the 6 year old division. He qualified to represent South Africa in the Callaway Junior World Championships in San Diego, USA in July 2009 and the US Kids World Junior Championships in Pinehurst, USA in August 2009.

While in America he had the following results:

  • 8th in the San Diego Junior Masters
  • 22nd in the Callaway Junior World Championships
  • 2nd in the Orlando US Kids Golf Tour
  • 25th in the World Junior Championships

 At the annual prize giving for Little Kids Golf held on 21 November 2009 he won the following trophies in the 6 year age group. 34 kids participated in the age group:

  • 1st in Order of Merit
  • 1st in Average points
  • 1st in Stroke averages

 He was also nominated for the prestigious Player of the Year Award. 4 kids from 6 to 12 years old were nominated for the prestigious Player of the Year Award and Brandon was chosen as the Player of the Year amongst 400 kids!

While on holiday during December 2009, in East London practicing for the World Qualifiers, he achieved his 1st hole-in-one on the 3rd hole at the West Bank Golf Course.

 On 16 and 17 January 2010 the World Qualifiers were held at Eagle Canyon. Brandon played in the 7 year old age group and won the division by 3 shots. As a result of this achievement he represented South Africa in the European Junior Championships in Scotland in June 2010 and the World Junior Championships in America in August 2010 where over 40 countries were represented with 1200 kids from 6 years old to 12 years old.

He achieved a 17th place out of 45 and 38th out of 95 for the two tournaments respectively. This was the 2nd year in a row that he has represented his country.

At the annual prize giving for Little Kids Golf held in November 2010 he won the following trophies in the 7-8 year age group. 57 kids participated in the age group:

  • 2nd in Order of Merit
  • 3rd in Average points
  • 4th in Stroke averages

Brandon continues to play in the 7-8 year age group for 2011.

During 2010 in the local SA Tournaments in the 7-8 year category he had the following results: (as at end December 2010):

  • 13  - 1st places
  • 4  - 2nd places
  • 4  - 3rd places
  • 2  - 4th place
  • 3  - 5th places

In 2011 Brandon has achieved the following results in the SA Kids Golf Tour and the Young Golfers Tour: (as at the end of March)

  • 3 – 1st places
  • 1 – 2nd place
  • 1 – 3rd place

Brandon has again qualified to represent South Africa in the European Championships in Scotland in May 2011, the Callaway Junior World Championships in San Diego, USA in July 2011and the US Kids World Junior Championships in Pinehurst, USA in August 2011.

Brandon continues to play all tournaments available to him and is looking forward to the next one.
